Jan would take the photographs, and Lindsey would build the websites. As mother & daughter they created a great team not only working, but in life. Sinse Jan’s retirement in 2015 Lindsey has used her art degree and gotten away from the computer into the fresh air and does the Photography as well. l say “She brings the energy to her website projects, and makes it fun”. Working with small business to afford websites will always be Lindsey’s goal. I love the unpredictability of working with children, capturing their true personalities and the moments they think no one else is watching. Knowing one day these moments, captured on film, will be shown to them when they are adults and then to their children is a truly humbling experience. Shannon came into her headshot session with one tiny problem…

She was nervous about having her photo taken. 😂

Which, honestly, is probably one of the most common things people tell me before headshots:
“I hate pictures of myself.”
“I’m so awkward.”
“I don’t know what to do.”
“I’m going to be terrible at this.”

Good news: you don't have to know what you're doing. That's my job.

We chatted, laughed, wandered around, took some photos—and somewhere along the way Shannon forgot she was supposed to be nervous.

And LOOK AT HER. 😍

Relaxed. Genuine. Beautiful. And very much the Shannon I know and love.

Sometimes a headshot session is very serious business.

And sometimes you photograph Bonnie Harris. 😂

I’m pretty sure we spent more time laughing than actually taking photos—and I have the proof. Bonnie’s personality is just too darn good not to share, so obviously the outtakes deserved their own collage.

But somehow, between the laughing, faces, and general shenanigans, we managed to sneak in a few “real” headshots too.

This is exactly why I love headshot sessions. You don’t have to be serious. You don’t have to know what to do in front of the camera. Just show up as yourself.

And this guy made my job pretty darn easy. A couple outfits, some cool old buildings, a little wandering around town, and somehow we managed to make senior photos relatively painless. It's always an honor to photograph senior photos for families. Especially when I've known his parents for over 20 years.

I've known Brad and Lisa Bates for well over a decade, and at some point I finally had to tell them...

"You can't be friends with me and still have a website like that. Let me help." 😂

So we gave Bates Publishing a fresh new website.

The goal wasn't to create something flashy. It was to make life easier for the educators who use it. Their old process involved downloading a PDF purchase order, filling it out, and emailing it back. Now schools can complete the purchase order online in just a few clicks.

We also built the site with room to grow. When they're ready to accept online orders in the future, the foundation is already there.

Sometimes a website redesign isn't about bells and whistles—it's about making everyday tasks easier for the people who rely on it. Hopefully this will help both consumer and business. Excited to expand it too.

Attention procrastinators... this is your friendly reminder. 😄

If senior photos are still hanging out on your summer to-do list, now's a really good time to check them off before school starts and life gets crazy.

The process is ridiculously easy:
Book Online
We meet up.
We wander around chatting while I pretend we're just hanging out.
I make you laugh a few times.
We accidentally end up with a bunch of awesome photos.

A few days later you'll get an online gallery where you can look through all your images from the comfort of your couch (or your bed... let's be honest) and choose your favorites. No pressure. No awkward ordering appointment. Just pick what you love.

Most seniors leave saying, "That was way easier than I thought."

I would suggest booking now before the back-to-school chaos hits, because once sports, homework, and everything else starts, finding a date gets a whole lot trickier.

Somehow, between the sweat and the heat, we captured so many genuine smiles, laughs, and the way they naturally light up around each other. They're going to make one wonderful married couple.

Summer vibes with this adorable family. We had so many fun action photos during their mini session.

Family sessions with little kids are basically cardio.

People ask why I only offer mini sessions for families, and the answer is simple: after about 20 minutes, the kids have decided they're done.

The good news? That's all we need. Kids are happiest when they're moving, laughing, and being themselves. I want family sessions to be a fun experience for all.

So yes, family sessions are always minis. They're fun, relaxed, and just the right amount of chaos. ❤️
