Brush to paper or Apple Pencil to iPad?🤔

For us, it truly depends on the purpose.

Sometimes true creative release only comes from that tactile sensation of rough paper and wet paint coming together - but we don’t always have the time to get a little dirty and prep our workspace.

That’s when the iPad comes in. It’s incredible how real some brush strokes and paper textures look on a digital screen. So maybe it’s *slightly* less satisfying to paint in procreate, but it’s definitely our move to get the creative juices flowing 💨

I mean this dusky blue and this handpainted texture?! Go ahead and zoom in. How can that not inspire current projects?!😏💫

A peek into this gorgeous brand before we dive into the web design phase 🤩

So much careful thought and strategic design choices were made into the creation of this brand. We needed the high-end luxury feeling, while remaining warm and approachable.

Our favorite part about the final stage of a branding project? Creating mock-ups for the client that bring the brand to life 😍 mock-ups for stationery and web design can really help visualize how the proposed concept can live out as a real brand.

Building those client relationships is key to a great, successful project 🙌🏼

We’ve found that truly connecting with the client makes for an enjoyable project from start to finish. That’s why in the Inquiry phase - before we ever decide to work together - we have in-depth discussions and questions to ensure we have similar goals and ideas about the project. It is then our duty as the designer to make sure we not only anticipate the client’s desires, but we also anticipate the brand’s needs. Aligning the two is such a crucial step in our client process and why client relationships is one of our favorite aspects of this industry.

After coming across Charles Eames’ quote, I couldn’t help but laugh about the parallels in work and in personal life. I do LOVE to host friends and family and offer them a million things to make sure they’re comfortable 😂

On another note, sorry we’ve been so quiet here lately. We have been working on some pretty big things behind the scenes. Sometimes it feels wrong to put down the big work for social media, but we recognize it can be equally as important. That’s something on our list of monthly goals to work on 👊🏼

Putting the finishing touches on the branding for m.e.a. creations - a small, sustainable business that repurposes beer bottles into candle vessels.

100% soy wax is hand poured into a variety of upcycled beer bottles from both local and bigger brands.

A lot of strategy went into building this brand. We needed to appeal to the target audience AND the person they might be buying for. Because of this, we couldn’t make the logos and submarks too feminine or masculine. They had to hit right in the middle - with neutral colors that complement many of the frequently used beer bottles and labels.

Can’t wait to share some photos of the candles and branding together ✨ The alternate logo and submarks will appear on the candle’s dust cover, which we’re anxiously awaiting in the mail 🤞🏼

Digital vs Print planners 🗓👇🏼

These days there are a million options for how to plan your week, business and life. The options are endless for digital planning between iCal, Google calendars Outlook and more. They allow for seamless syncing between all your logged in devices and you can filter your work calendar from your personal.

But what about the satisfaction from writing in a tangible planner? ✍🏼 Studies have proven that the act of writing something down increases your focus, memory and relieves stress.

We employ a combination of the two. It’s in our weekly process on Monday’s to write down the goals and to-do’s for the week in our printed planner and then make sure all due dates and appointments are synced in our digital calendar.

Different methods work for different people. But boy, are we fans of physically crossing something off on our beautiful planner ✔️😌 there’s something about our physical little book that feels like a commitment to yourself and your goals.
