In today’s world, nothing is certain except death, taxes, and paid digital advertising. As costs for the latter continue to increase disproportionately, are you confident that you are optimizing your return on digital ad spend or just “feeding the beast? ” If you sense that your ads go unnoticed, people bounce off of your landing page, and your value proposition seems to offer no value, we'll show you how to change that.

In this webinar, Adam Lundquist, a Harvard-educated agency owner and former radio shock jock from Santa Barbara radio whose interview became one of the first-ever viral YouTube videos, will discuss practical, proven ways to increase the ROI from your digital ad campaigns. His company Nerds Do it Better consistently delivers paid search campaigns utilizing the advanced statistical analysis to remove inefficiencies in marketing and generate more customers on a consistent basis in a cost-effective way.

You know local customers are out there.

You see them walk by your store, looking at their phones searching for what your business offers.

Yet they still click on your competitors – even when your ads appear in the search results.

As a local business, you know that you can’t compete with the national competition on price because they leverage their economy of scale. These national companies use their volume-based economies of scale to make offers with razor-thin margins.

Offers which any local business is unable to match.

You feel frustrated and see no way out.

You know the value of your local business is not the price – the value your business provides is the knowledge of the local market and your ability to provide local customers the individualized attention and customized solution that no national business can match.

While you may not have the budget of national advertisers, you can still go toe to toe with them in Paid Internet Advertising and win. Trust me – I spend my days consistently beating national advertisers by helping local businesses with only a fraction of their competitor’s budget.

I am not any smarter, I do not have any super skills. The key is something that I know about a local customer base and what matters to them.

I may not be Clarrissa, but I am going to try to explain it all about beating national brands with Internet Advertising in your local market…..

Imagine you go out to a fancy restaurant like the Cheesecake Factory.

You’ve been craving a delicious, juicy steak for days, and it just so happens the Factory (as I like to call it) makes the best steaks in town.

As you scan through the menu, there’s a picture of the exact steak you’ve been looking for, along with a description that makes your mouth water just by reading it. You place your order with the waiter and sit in anticipation (being sure not to fill up on bread!).

After a few minutes, the waiter brings out your dish. He places the plate in front of you and, to your dismay, there’s nothing but escargot on your plate.

That’s not what you ordered!

So, what do you do? You send it right back to the kitchen and continue your quest for a proper steak.

What does eating in a restaurant have to do with landing page conversion rates? A lot!

Think of the search engine results as the menu, the PPC ads as the entrée descriptions, and the landing pages as the food.

If people look through the menu (search results) and see an item that looks good (PPC ad), the food (your landing page) better come out exactly like it’s described in the menu.

Otherwise, they’re going to send it back and continue looking for what they want (leave without becoming a lead or buying).

In other words, if your landing page doesn’t exactly match your PPC ads, users think they’ve gone to the wrong place and leave before they convert to sales or leads. Check out our new article: How To Get More Sales By Matching Your Landing Page To Your Ads

You’ve spent a ton of time perfecting your product or service.

Early feedback has been great, but early feedback isn’t everything…remember, at one point there was enough early and good feedback to greenlight the movie “The Meg”.

In your case, it isn’t a movie that is a dud – it is your business.

People aren’t buying your product or service. At least not at the rate you want them to.

You can see that your landing pages get solid traffic, but only a small percentage of it converts.

Your spider-sense is tingling and you know something is wrong.

It’s easy to think that adding more information about features or dropping the price will solve the problem but, in all likelihood, it won’t.

Confused? Hey, we get it.

You want to just focus on what is great about your business, and completely sidestep any concerns potential customers might raise.

However, your customers have objections in their minds, and unless you address and overcome them you will not get the sale.

Imagine you’re the owner of a store. Like any good shopkeep, you want people to come in and buy your stuff. So, since you are a smarty-pants like Beth Harmon, you come up with a brilliant idea:

Why not pay people to come inside!?

You stand on the sidewalk outside your store (costume optional) and offer passersby a dollar to come inside. They happily take your dollar, step one foot inside your store, then turn around and leave without buying anything.

Sounds like a terrible marketing strategy, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it’s very common when it comes to pay per click (PPC) advertisements.

Every time a user clicks your ad, you pay.

They take one look at your site and click to a new tab. You’re “PP”ing for lots of C’s, but nobody is converting to sales or taking you up on your incredible offers! All you can do is sit back, throw more money into the void, and watch your cost per acquisition (CPA) skyrocket

Why the heck would users click on your ads if they don’t plan on buying anything? Clearly, something is wrong, but you just can’t put your finger on it.

Maybe your PPC ad isn’t sending users to the right destination…

If a potential customer looks at your PPC ad and can’t immediately understand how it benefits them, then you have probably already lost them.

There are too many other results on the search engine results page (SERP) and they won’t spend time investigating your ad and landing page when your competitors are letting them know exactly how clicking on their ad improves their lives.

Users are just greedy – you need to make it all about them and you need to do it quickly.

In this post I am going to take you through 5 PPC ads that I think are great, and critique them through the lens of a user who is saying “what’s in it for me?”

So, you’ve beavered away on your new landing page for hours.

Or maybe you’ve spent good money on a seasoned copywriter to do the work for you.

You put the page live, wait for a few days and…

Nada. Nothing. Zilch.

Looking at your analytics confirms that the page has a low conversion rate; visitors lurk for a while, but they just aren’t taking action. You try a little A/B testing, chopping and changing content and headlines, but it doesn’t seem to make much (if any) difference.

Did you really waste all that time and/or money developing a page that’s doing absolutely nothing to help advance users through your sales funnel? Maybe. But, more likely, no.

In fact, the key to improving conversions on your page could be as simple as changing one little word. And it’s a word that a ton of pages based on default landing page templates use as standard.

If you follow this advice, the conversion rate of your pages will be anything but standard.

Like most metrics-driven marketers, you probably focus on the number of sales calls and demos that you book for sales.

However, this is not always the correct metric as some leads are not profitable to speak with, and it is unprofitable to allow them to book a call.

For every unqualified lead that you prepare and spend time with on a sales demo, you waste the two things that businesses can never have enough of – time and opportunity. While you speak with this unqualified prospect there are a whole host of other, more profitable tasks you could perform.
