Today we celebrate 35 Years of the ADA 🎉

On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law, a milestone in the disability rights movement and a critical step toward a more just and accessible world.

But the ADA was a milestone, not the finish line.

At Tamman, we know that accessibility is not just about ramps and elevators; it’s about dignity, opportunity, and equity across every part of life, including the digital spaces we all rely on.

Today, we celebrate the ADA and honor the advocates who made it possible; AND we are reminded that there is still a lot of work to do.

So, we ask you: What are you doing to create a more inclusive and equitable future?

At Tamman, we remain steadfast in our mission to build a digital world that includes everyone.

July is Disability Pride Month ‼️

This month is about celebrating identity, advocating for equity, and honoring the many ways people with disabilities shape our world.

At Tamman, accessibility isn’t a checkbox. It’s the lens we bring to every project, every partnership, and every decision. Because access to information, opportunity, and community shouldn't be a privilege, it should be a given.

This month holds special meaning for us. Alongside our team at Chax, we’re fortunate to work with the disability community every day, not just as colleagues, but as collaborators, clients, teachers, and friends. It drives our work, shapes what we build, and moves us forward.

To our colleagues, partners, and friends in the disability community: we see you, we celebrate you, and we wish you a joyful and powerful month and year ❤️ 💛 🤍 💚 💙 !

Earlier this year, Slack pushed out an update that left Kristen Witucki, a blind writer and educator at Tamman, unable to read or send messages. What seemed like a minor tweak to most users became a critical breakdown in her ability to work.

In this reflection, Kristen shares what that moment felt like. Not just the technical barrier, but the emotional toll, the need to advocate, and the importance of being surrounded by colleagues who didn’t just sympathize, but took action.

This isn’t a story about Slack. It’s a story about how fragile accessibility can be, how vital persistence is, and how inclusive design is an ongoing commitment.

Whether you build digital tools or use assistive tech, Kristen’s story is a reminder that inclusion is ongoing and is everyone’s responsibility! Read her full reflection ⬇️

Have you ever come across an accessibility issue in an app? Kristen shares a personal story of persistence, collaboration, and advocacy in navigating and resolving accessibility issues in Slack’s mobile app.

Pride is more than a month, it’s a commitment 🌈

Our work at Tamman is rooted in the belief that accessibility is a human right, and so is the freedom to live, love, and express who you are. Our work is about removing barriers and building a digital world where everyone has a seat at the table, especially those whose identities have been historically excluded.

That commitment starts within. Our internal Pride team has been planning for months, curating and creating content to help our team learn, reflect, and celebrate this June! While we breathe inclusion every day at Tamman, Pride Month is a chance to uplift and honor our LGBTQIA+ community, inside our workplace and beyond!

We hope you’ll join our team in honoring month as both a celebration and a call to action!
