Engineering Perspectives on Single-Family House Design
This bachelorโs thesis presents a comparative engineering study of a single-family house designed with identical geometry and materials in two different European regions - Slovakia and Finland.
The research examines how climate conditions, regulatory frameworks, structural loading requirements, energy performance standards, and economic factors influence residential building design. By applying the same architectural concept to two distinct environments, the study reveals the technical adjustments required to ensure safety, efficiency, and long-term durability.
The project highlights how engineering solutions are directly shaped by regional context, demonstrating the impact of climate and legislation on structural design and construction practice across Central and Northern Europe.
