Chevron has big plans in Venezuela. The Houston-based oil giant vowed to invest more than $7 billion over the next five years and increase production in the Orinoco Belt to approximately 600,000 barrels daily. In a statement, Chevron CEO Mike Wirth expressed "confidence in the country's deep resource potential." The news comes just days after the Latin American nation agreed to let the U.S. take control of 65 billion barrels of its proven oil reserves, in a deal that promises to lower the price of gas for Americans.
