In their article “Why Free Parking is Bad for Everyone”, Vox interviewed economist Donald Shoup of UCLA, who estimated that “in a 15-block area in Los Angeles' Westwood Village alone, cars travel about 950,000 miles annually just cruising for parking, burning 47,000 gallons of gasoline and emitting 730 tons of carbon dioxide.”

Cities have a hard time understanding who is using their curbs, and when. We created Street Sense to fill this void with real-time data around curb usage. This data can be used to automate transactions to ensure that everyone is paying for the time they use- including delivery companies. Commissioner Manolo Reyes was quoted in Miami Today News, saying “the only way to police [the scooter program] is, we need special police, and we don’t have that”.
