Why is this my five cent penny you may ask?
Well I will tell you...
I bought an item at a national office chain and the total came to $2.99. The clerk handed me this nickel as change. I politely said to her that she only owed me a penny and she responded to me that it is now company policy to round up to a nickel and not use cents.
Well to me that makes no sense! There are probably still millions if not billions of pennies in circulation and it seems to me we should use them until they become scarce.
Oh, and by the way, she actually told me she had pennies in her cash drawer.
