The banking industry just had its best quarter since 2000 on profitability. But the results split sharply by bank size.

Banks with $10B-$250B in assets grew deposits twice as fast as community banks. That is the gap the industry average hides.

Most build-versus-buy conversations price two options and forget the third. Staying exactly where you are has a number too, and for a mid-size institution we put it at about $975K per quarter in loan revenue nobody ever gets to.

On Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 PM ET, our panel puts real figures on all three doors: standing still, building in-house, and partnering.

Our VP of Engineering will give you the honest version of the build-it-yourself math, including the nine things a working deployment has to keep doing long after the first model ships. Bring that number to your next budget conversation.

If AI is anywhere in your 2027 plan, this is the hour that decides whether it survives contact with your data.

Your commission is going to ask how a proposed increase lands on your lowest-income customers, broken out by segment.

Most utilities are not ready, and rate case season does not wait.

Tomorrow, August 27 at 1:00 PM ET, Tomer Borenstein, BlastPoint CTO and co-founder, and Tom Hines, Principal at Tierra Resource Consultants, cover how to build that answer from AMI and payment history before anyone asks for it.

One hour, one model, and the case study from a Northeast IOU that saw 3x program engagement among its low- and moderate-income customers (BlastPoint, 2026).

The Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative asked more than 4,000 Americans about energy affordability, and they're presenting what came back next Wednesday.

The panel pairs SECC's survey findings with what utilities and regulators are doing about rising bills, plus programs already in the field. Our own Chris Medina is joining to share BlastPoint's affordability pressure benchmark across 1,100+ utilities.

A model that cannot be explained may not be deployable. That one sentence changes the math on a lot of in-house AI projects.

Our new guide for credit unions lists what an NCUA examiner will actually ask about a predictive model. It is a useful list for two reasons: it shows what an in-house build has to construct before the first model ships, and it gives you a straight set of questions to put to any vendor you are evaluating.

Most build estimates price the first demo and miss the ten-year obligation. This guide breaks down what AI and customer intelligence actually costs credit unions — in dollars, time, and regulatory risk — and what buying gets you instead.

What do you do when marketing sees a cross-sell opportunity, collections sees a risk, and both are looking at the same account holder? Right now, most institutions do nothing, because nobody at the top sees both signals at once. We estimate that gap costs a mid-size financial institution around $975,000 a quarter.

CU Today recently featured our take on what makes a financial institution AI-ready. The conversation continues on September 8, when our CEO Alison Alvarez and three of our leaders sort out when a bank or credit union should build AI in-house and when it should buy.

Bank leaders get judged on the share of revenue a bank spends on overhead. The catch is what they get compared to.

The industry ratio for Q1 2026 is 55%, and the typical US bank runs 63%. But that industry number is weighted by dollars rather than by banks, so the largest 154 banks set the metric all 4,332 get graded on.

Grouped by asset size, banks under $100M run 81%. Banks between $100M and $1B run 64%. Banks above $10B run 53% to 54%. The typical bank's ratio has been the higher of the two in 104 of the last 105 quarters.

Q1 2026 figures are live on our Banking Scorecard. You can look up any FDIC-insured bank against banks its own size, for a fairer comparison.

Give three internal teams the same account holder list and you'll get three different answers about who's at risk and who's worth a call.

Marketing has one list, collections has another, and the CEO is looking at a third. Nobody is wrong, exactly. They're just working from different data, refreshed at different times.

A core data system gives all of them the same daily-updated picture. That's the piece that has to exist before any AI project is worth starting, and it's the piece most institutions skip past on their way to a pilot.

Join our panel on Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 PM ET for the honest version of what that foundation takes: what to build, what to buy, and how to tell which one your institution should be doing. Our CEO Alison Alvarez hosts, with our heads of product, engineering, and operations.

Utility bills are not going up in isolation. Groceries and rent moved first, and households are feeling all of it at once.

BlastPoint’s Co-Founder and CEO, Alison Alvarez, explains why this rate cycle is harder to absorb than the ones utilities have already learned to manage, and why the strain looks so different depending on where you serve.
