It’s International Museum Day!

Digital collections are not meant to replace physical museum spaces and exhibitions — rather they supplement, increase accessibility and allow a larger swath of a museum’s collection to be in the public view at all times. Square Candy has been lucky to be able to collaborate with Theory One and the Maryland Center for History and Culture on updating the Digital Collections area of their site. In 2021 Theory One revised the User Interface design and Square Candy rebuilt the API connection to their private internal collections database, fully integrating it into the public WordPress site. There are some fun features like search by date range and drill-down style filtering by subjects, materials and people. Go take a look at the fashions, people and history of Baltimore and beyond!

Square Candy Design has had the pleasure of working with So Percussion for about a decade, and recently had the opportunity to design and develop a complete overhaul of their website. While we loved the old site, which we also built, we needed to bring further attention to its ability to act as both an intuitive online storefront, as well as a centralized location for events, news and other ongoing updates to be shared. All of which are all easily updated and edited by So's team, and with comprehensive accessibility features designed with their audience in mind.

Join OneBeat as they bring together 25 musicians selected from 19 different countries for OneBeat 13 Kinship and Gathering. A 2 week long musical fellowship and residency produced by Found Sound Nation, that will be taking its mesmerizing international collaboration of music, culture, and spaces on tour across New England. Performances begin May 3rd at Avaloch Farm Music Institute, followed by the first leg of the New England tour at Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity in Northampton, MA.
