It's Friday Jan 30th. We currently have an outage and are trying to determine the cause. At this point we believe our upstream provider is down. Thank you for your patience. We are on it.

Our internet is back up. If you are not up you can power cycle your routers. Then call asap if you are still down.

Note, We are in the end portion of a major upgrade which would prevent this type of incident from causing an outage. We will have total redundancy of Fiber all the way to Dallas.

Outage update

This is from our backhaul provider. The location is between Sweetwater and Ira.
"A truck grabbed aerial lines and broke power poles, pulling several spans down. Construction is on site. Crews are gathering cable and will utilize a spare conduit along this path to get the cable under an intersection before returning aerial past the damaged poles. No ETTR at this time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Multiple Poles were involved. The power company has completed work and the Fiber owners construction crew is working to bypass damage.

Outage Update.

Splicer is headed to fiber cut location about 10 miles from IRA. That is past Sweetwater towards Dalllas. At this point they don't know how bad the damage is. No ETA for internet restore yet.

ATTENTION INTERNET CUSTOMERS!

There is a major Internet outage in West Texas which is originating past Sweetwater. This is on our backhaul to Dallas and our connectivity is down until repairs are completed. It is impossible to say how long that will take. They are looking for the damaged location now and will repair ASAP. You may also find Verizon towers down as well.

How good is Fiber Internet?

Well, as Troy Polamalu has said in his commercial (Head and Shoulders) - It should be "Never Not Working".

How do we do that? First we use Big battery backup so our power stays up for days. Not a generator as that is dirty power and the power goes off before it comes back on. Not good enough! Second, we have redundant Backhaul, so a single failure behind us, doesn't effect you. Happens all the time, but our customer never sees it.
Third, we design our system with excess capacity so busy hours work the same as always.
Is it perfect, No. But that's the goal and we strive to get closer all the time.

We had a utility truck catch a fiber and have a few people out from the fiber on the alley between 2nd and 3rd. It happened by the 900 block so if your address is 900 or higher that is the problem. We have found the damaged section and are repairing now.
