🎄🛍️ Stay Safe Online This Holiday Shopping Season 🎄🛍️

The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for online shopping—and unfortunately, it’s also prime time for cybercriminals. As more people hunt for deals, scammers ramp up efforts to steal personal information, money, and identities. The good news? With a few smart habits, you can enjoy stress-free online shopping and keep your information safe.

🎯 Be Cautious With Deals That Seem “Too Good to Be True”

If a deal looks unreal, it probably is. Scammers often use massive discounts to lure shoppers into fake websites or phishing scams.

Stay safe by:

- Comparing prices across reputable retailers
- Avoiding ads or links from unknown sources
- Watching for poor spelling, odd URLs, or rushed “limited time” pressure tactics

🔒 Shop Only on Secure Websites

Before entering payment information, make sure the site is legitimate.

Check for:

- URLs that start with **https://** (the “s” means secure)
- A lock icon in the browser’s address bar
- Well-known, trusted retailers or verified marketplaces

Avoid making purchases on public Wi-Fi unless you’re using a trusted VPN.

📧 Watch Out for Phishing Emails & Texts

Holiday scams often come disguised as shipping notifications, order confirmations, or “account issues.”

Protect yourself by:

- Not clicking links in unexpected emails or texts
- Checking the sender’s email address carefully
- Going directly to the retailer’s website instead of using embedded links

If something feels off, it probably is.

🔑 Use Strong, Unique Passwords

Using the same password everywhere is risky—especially during the holidays.

Best practices:

- Create long, unique passwords for shopping and financial accounts
- Use a reputable password manager
- Enable **two-factor authentication (2FA)** whenever available

💳 Choose Secure Payment Methods

Your payment choice can add an extra layer of protection.

Safer options include:

- Credit cards (often offer fraud protection)
- Virtual card numbers
- Digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay

Avoid direct bank transfers or debit cards on unfamiliar sites.

📦 Track Orders & Monitor Statements

Keep an eye on your purchases and financial accounts.

Do this regularly:

- Monitor bank and credit card statements
- Set up transaction alerts
- Act quickly if you notice unfamiliar charges

The faster you report fraud, the easier it is to resolve.

🖥️ Keep Devices Updated

Outdated software can leave your devices vulnerable.

Make sure to:

- Install system and browser updates
- Use reputable antivirus and anti-malware software
- Avoid downloading unknown apps or browser extensions

🎁 Final Thoughts

Holiday shopping should be fun—not stressful. By staying alert, using secure tools, and trusting your instincts, you can protect yourself from online threats and focus on what really matters: enjoying the season with friends and family.

Stay smart. Stay secure. And happy holiday shopping! 🎄✨

🚨 When AWS & Cloudflare Go Down… Here’s How It Impacts Your Daily Life 🚨

Most people don’t realize it, but huge parts of our digital world run on just a few major cloud platforms — including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Cloudflare. So when they go down, even briefly, the effects can be felt everywhere.

Here’s how outages from AWS or Cloudflare can affect YOU ⬇️

💥 Everyday Apps Stop Working

- Banking & payment apps fail

- Rideshare, food delivery, and social media lag or break

- Smart home devices act up or go offline

💼 Businesses Take a Huge Hit

- POS systems crash

- Online stores can’t process orders

- Customer service tools like chat apps and ticket systems go down

- Remote work tools (Docs, CRM, ERP) stop loading

🌐 Websites Across the Internet Break

- Sites load slowly or not at all

- “500 Error” messages everywhere

- CDNs fail, so images, scripts, and pages break

- E-commerce checkouts stop mid-purchase

🎮 Streaming & Gaming Interruptions

- Netflix, Hulu, Twitch buffering

- Online games disconnect

- Cloud gaming platforms stop authenticating

🏠 Smart Home Chaos

- Alexa/Google Assistant won’t respond

- Smart locks, thermostats, and cameras fail

- Routines & automations don’t run

🏥 Even Critical Systems Can Be Affected

- Healthcare portals

- Travel apps (airlines, trains, buses)

- Government sites

- Emergency communications (delayed or degraded)

🔍 Why It Matters

We’re more connected — and more dependent — on cloud infrastructure than ever before. Even a small outage can cause big problems.

If you want a breakdown of how businesses can protect themselves from major cloud outages, comment “INFO” and I’ll send it!

Statement (9/20/2025):

After careful consideration and discussion with many parties, we have decided to put "Project Artemis (the WISP/DC project" on hold for the time being.

There were several factors in regards to this and it was not an easy decision to make. We want to thank everyone for their support of our idea, it just seems that at this time, it isn't in our cards to establish this in our region.

We are currently evaluating our "Plan B" and if that pans out, we will make an official announcement on that ASAP.

Thank you,

NOCO Technologies LLC will be attending the Planning Board Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025 at the Town of Chesterfield Office in regards to property at 85 Kent Street, Keeseville, New York 12944. This is regards to getting the necessary variance/guidance for us to begin Phase 1 of Project Artemis (Formerly known as Project WISP/DC).

With approval, we hope to begin moving forward with the project before the beginning of 2026.

Our proposal is to renovate and retrofit an existing 5,000 square foot facility to become our Network Operation Center with a 100' Self Supported Broadcast Tower attached to the rooftop anchored to four supports into the building itself. Due to the building being in the "Historical District," we need to seek a variance to complete this task.

We hope that we can gain approval, so we can provide a more affordable broadband solution to the area residents and partner with the cellular carriers to allow them space on our towers to improve cellular connectivity to those that lack it.

If you want to support our project, please send an email to [email protected] SUBJECT: SUPPORT OF PROJECT ARTEMIS that will be forwarded to the Town to gain a public hearing on the project.

To all that have continued to support our idea for this project, we thank you very much.

With warm regards,
John "Tex" Smith

For those that have been following "Project WISP/DC," we are still working closely with the Town of Chesterfield on giving us the greenlight to begin development of NOCONet in the hamlet area of Keeseville.

We have NOT given up on the project. Like anything, there are several hurdles that we must jump over to get to the next step until we've finally crossed the last one.

If you want more information or would like to discuss what we plan on doing with NOCONet, please call or text us at (518)-310-6607 or email at [email protected].
