Heads Up Notice
*** All wireless customers ( DeSmet and Tensed ) who connect to the DeSmet water tanks ***
- Earlier this Wednesday morning , the power company started working on the power up near the DeSmet water tanks and cut the power there. When the power company cut the power , we automatically switched to backup battery power which lasted a few hours until the backup batteries finally died.
- We at Red-Spectrum Communications were not given any advance notice the power at this DeSmet water tank site was going to be cut ( turned off ) for some utility power work.
- At this time , our best guess for power restoration is probably sometime tomorrow morning.
- So if you are a wireless customer in this area , this is probably the reason you might not have Internet right now.
- When the power company restores power there , our wireless equipment there will auto-restart and work again.
- Please , inform your local friends and neighbors there why their wireless Internet might not be working.
- Note ; this power outage there has no effect on our fiber customers there because our fiber does not use the DeSmet water tanks.

🌲 20 Years of Keeping the Inland Northwest Connected. 🌲
Two decades ago, we started with a simple mission: to bring reliable internet to the places the "big guys" ignored. From the hills of North Idaho to the plains of Eastern Washington, Red Spectrum has been your neighbor for 20 years.

We aren't just a service provider; we're the crew you see at the local gas station and the neighbors who understand that rural life shouldn't mean being disconnected. To everyone who has been with us since the dial-up days and those who just joined our fiber network—thank you.

Let’s Celebrate Another Year Together with a Wide-Open Weekend (WOW)!

We love being your local provider, so we’re saying thanks with a serious upgrade. From noon Friday, March 27th until noon Monday, March 30th , we are automatically boosting your home internet to the fastest possible speeds your equipment allows. Stream, game, and download at the speed of "WOW."

Hello All!!! Well... Mother Nature has done it again. The current windstorms have disrupted power in several locations throughout the Inland Northwest. Several locations are without power and are currently working on battery and generator power. Many power company's in the area are also reporting outages. We'll continue to monitor the weather and keep the internet up and running. As long as you have generator/battery power the internet should be working. Stay home. Stay warm. Stay Safe.

Another year grounded in the hills. Reporting from the quiet side of Idaho—no skyscrapers, just 35 degrees and a little March snow/rain mix. Glad to be right here.

Heads up notice - Feb 10'th 2026
Kootenai Electric Cooperative ( KEC ) has a planned power outage today starting at 9 AM to 2 PM. Some of our Cave Bay area located customers may experience Internet connectivity problems during these hours. Currently , our Cave Bay wireless access points are now running on battery power. It is not clear if the backup battery power system has the capacity to last that long. When power does return , our systems in these areas should auto restart

Hello All, Just wanted to provide an update to those who are still having issues with Internet service since the Power Outage and Wind storms a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, our fiber optic network in the Plummer area, specifically E, F, G, and H street took a major hit and was broken by many fallen trees in several different places. Unfortunately, these were not the only areas that took damage. Sanders, Tensed, Desmet, Lovell Valley, Agency, Worley, Conklin and Cave bay also experienced many outages with Both Wireless and Fiber connectivity. Crews have been working overtime during the Holidays restoring main lines, climbing towers, realigning antennas and providing customers with temporary service when available. We hope to have most/all service restored this week. Thank you for your patience during these unexpected events. Please make sure to call our Tech Support line directly and leave a message if you have been without service. We will get you taken care of.

Hello All,

Power crews are out in the Sanders, Tensed, Desmet area and are working to restore several sections still affected by last weeks windstorm. Unfortunately this has affected our backup power as well. As soon as power comes back on so should we. Sorry for this inconveinance. Should have fixed soon.

Update Dec 22 2025 ( 10:30 AM ).
To all wireless customers who connect to the Plummer Tribal-Housing APs , you should be working now.
We had to replace a fiber-optic transceiver at Tribal-housing. Apparently the power outage blew out this small finger-sized piece of electronics.
