Did you hear about the White House's "Strengthening America's Cybersecurity" initiative that was recently announced? What we found most interesting was the announcement of risk labels for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. IOT devices have become much more common today, and many of us have them throughout our businesses and homes (smart thermostats, Alexa/Google speakers, etc.). But unfortunately, they are often a common attack vector for cybercriminals. Additional awareness to companies and consumers alike could prove beneficial to keeping everyone safe. It will be interesting to see how things shape in the long run. To learn more about this initiative, check out this article below.

The White House's recently unveiled "Strengthening America's Cybersecurity" effort focuses on several issues relevant to organizations worldwide.

Did you know that Google recently blocked one of the largest DDoS attacks? What I found most interesting about this news, is the scale of the attack. Google said the attack was like receiving all of the daily request to Wikipedia in just 10 seconds! If you want to learn more, read the article below.

By anticipating a DDOS attack, a Google Cloud customer was able to stop it before it took down their site. They just weren’t expecting it to be the biggest known Layer 7 DDOS attack so far, at 46 million rps.

Have you ever made a mistake? When it comes to cybersecurity, some mistakes are more costly than others. What I found most interesting in the article below is the common misconception that free Wi-Fi is safe. If a Wi-Fi signal is unsecured, it’s easy for good people and bad actors to be on the same network. Protect yourself by using a personal hotspot or a VPN. If you would like to learn more about other common mistakes people make regarding cybersecurity, check out the rest of this article.

From skipping updates to answering phone calls from scammers, here are 5 dangerous cybersecurity mistakes that can cost you dearly.

Did you know that a popular email marketing platform was breached? Earlier this week, Mailchimp was breached resulting in phishing emails being sent to people from the platform. What is most interesting about this attack is that the threat actors were able to carry out this attack because they were able to successfully social engineer an employee at Mailchimp. People are the last line of defense to help keep businesses safe from cybersecurity attacks. If you’re a small business or know of a small business interested in protecting employees from falling victim to a social engineering attack, reach out to us today. Did you know that water and wastewater organizations are increasingly falling victim to ransomware attacks? The U.S. Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA) issued a warning yesterday. What’s most concerning about this news is that threat actors seem to be increasing their attacks against organizations responsible for critical U.S. infrastructure. If this trend continues, we could see more disruption to day-to-day life, similar to the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack that affected gas supply/prices across the northeast earlier this year. To learn more, check out this article below!

You’ve probably heard of Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) but, have you heard of Phishing as a Service (PhaaS)? Microsoft recently uncovered a large-scale PhaaS operation while researching phishing attacks. What we found interesting about the finding by Microsoft is the phishing technique used by the service creator and their customers. They use a technique called double theft, which sends stolen credentials to both parties. This method allows for multiple parties to profit off the attack. Check out this article to learn more!

With over 100 available phishing templates that mimic known brands and services, the BulletProofLink operation is responsible for many of the phishing campaigns that impact enterprises today. We are sharing these findings so the broader community can build on them and use them to enhance email filte...
