Ever seen one of these parked on the side of the road and wondered what was going on inside? 🔍

That's a fiber splicing vehicle — and it's doing some of the most precise work in telecommunications.
When fiber optic cable needs to be joined together, it can't just be twisted or crimped like copper wire. Each individual glass fiber strand — thinner than a human hair — has to be precisely aligned and fused together using a process called fusion splicing. A specialized machine applies an electric arc to melt the fibers together at the exact point of contact, creating a bond so clean that light passes through it with almost zero signal loss.
The vehicle itself acts as a mobile lab — climate controlled and protected from the elements so the splice quality is never compromised by weather conditions (and either are our splicers!)
