About time.
For years, cybercriminals have relied on bulletproof hosting, anonymous VPN services, cryptocurrency laundering networks, and underground infrastructure to hide their activities.
This week, the FBI announced Operation Riptide, a coordinated effort targeting the criminals AND the systems that help them operate.
That matters because ransomware, business email compromise, phishing, and data theft don't happen in a vacuum. Criminal groups depend on infrastructure providers, payment channels, and anonymous services to stay hidden.
The good news:
✅ Law enforcement is becoming more aggressive
✅ International cooperation is increasing
✅ Criminal infrastructure is getting harder to maintain
The reality:
⚠️ Small businesses are still the primary target
⚠️ Cyber insurance requirements are increasing
⚠️ Compliance and security documentation matter more than ever
The FBI can disrupt criminal networks, but every business still needs strong passwords, MFA, endpoint protection, backups, employee training, and a documented security program.
Security isn't just about stopping hackers anymore—it's about proving you're managing risk.
