"Ghost tapping" is a high-tech scam where thieves use portable card readers to charge your contactless credit card or mobile wallet without you ever taking it out of your pocket or bag. Think of it as a modern-day version of pickpocketing. Instead of physically grabbing your wallet, scammers use the same NFC (Near Field Communication) technology that lets you "tap to pay" at a grocery store to "tap" your card or phone wirelessly as they walk past you.
You can use an RFID Block Wallet or a Card Sleeve to block the signal.
If you see a charge you didn't authorize, contact your bank immediately to dispute the transaction. Most credit cards offer Zero Liability Protection for fraudulent charges, meaning you won't be held responsible for the lost money if you report it quickly.
