Design trend I am loving: ASCII
ASCII art first emerged through the 1950s and 60s when artists and programmers began using standard text characters to simulate detailed images. Working with line printers and monospaced displays, they recreated shading, form, and structure using nothing but the original 95 printable characters of the ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) set.
This technique is having a renewed moment in design, adding a dash of retro futurism, tech / data driven storytelling, and typography as texture to contemporary visual work.
