🌐 Introducing Vectro Type Foundry 🔠

Vectro will be the new home for Scribble Tone’s type work. It’s been almost 13 years since we started working on the outlines that would become our first release. Our work has evolved a bit over the years, and along the way we are proud to have brought Future Fonts into the world, too. We feel it’s time to give our type work a fresh and more dedicated home. So, say hello to Vectro!

10 years ago today we released our first version of Chartwell. This font charting tool, introduced us to the type community, font industry, and gave us some financial freedom to dedicate time to personal projects such as FutureFonts.xyz. What a fun ride it’s been!

Fun fact. 100% of the Future Fonts code was written with ISO. We’ve been using it as our code editor font for the past 4 years, and many small adjustments to it have been made to help with code readability. For example you might have wondered why some punctuation feels slightly heavier and bigger. This is a personal preference to help make important characters pop.

This week we released Kicker and wanted to take a sec to reflect on its progress. Our careers have grown a lot with this typeface and it brings up all the feels. It started as a custom brand typeface we made to unite our design community with , and eventually inspired us to create , bc it never felt quite ready for a commercial release. The design is inspired by neon signs around our home as well as vintage sports vibes of Nike that seem right to highlight in a Portland design typeface. We worked with our friends and co-founders of Design Portland, and and grew a lot as designers with not only the typeface, but branding and the platform we built. Thank you Kicker and everyone that has played a part in its 7yr journey! It’s been fun seeing it all over the city each year.
