Mission accomplished: Fab & Install for the First Infantry Division Museum in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Objective: To display historical materials from the oldest continuously serving division in the Regular Army.

Murals? Check.
Dioramas? Check.
Battle footage? Check.
D-Day model of Omaha Beach? Yes, sir!

The division, whose motto is DUTY FIRST, was constituted on 24 May 1917 with the mission of fighting on the Western Front during World War I. They were some of the war’s first casualties.

If your boots are ever on the ground in Kansas, go check out the Big Red One’s artifacts, from WWI through Desert Storm.

Oregon Korean War Memorial
Grand Opening: June 29, 2024, 10:00 a.m.

Created in cooperation with the Korean War Veterans Association, the Interpretive Center was designed for veterans, extended family, and future generations from all backgrounds. Large-format photographs feature Oregonians who were there, and a light-up map highlights important battles, for those of us who were not. Personal items, video narration, and biographies tell stories from the war—how they got there, what they saw, and how they made it home, unless they made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Mascot Saloon
Skagway, Alaska
Open to the Public

The Mascot Saloon is back in business—as a museum. Formations recreated the look and feel of this gold rush-era saloon with interpretive media that bring the barroom back to life. Visitors will experience what it was like to be a turn-of-the-century patron—gambling, booze, cheap eats, and cigars—when women weren’t allowed, and segregation was the law of the land. Now everyone is welcome! If you can make it to the Yukon territory, you’re sure to be thirsty for knowledge. Belly up to the bar for a swig of history.

Formations Inc recently finished fabricating and installing the new visitor center exhibits at the Marais des Cygnes Wildlife Refuge, in partnership with the Fish and Wildlife Service. Our colorful and immersive design engages visitors of all ages and tells the story of the ecosystem of the Marais des Cygnes Refuge, and the diligent work of the Fish and Wildlife Service that keeps it protected.

The Weldon Spring Site in St. Charles, Missouri, is now open to the public. The Visitor Center exhibit, designed and built by Formations, tells of sacrifice and service in the name of national defense, the history of the Environmental Protection Agency, and of a landscape restored for future generations of people and wildlife.

"200 Years of Oregon Beer" is this week's project, which was shown at the Oregon Historical Society back in 2018. The exhibit is no longer on display as it was temporary only, but hopefully these pictures will quench your thirst.

Jennings Lodge is an unincorporated community in Clackamas county near Gladstone, Oregon that has historical and spiritual significance to the area. The land was once settled by the Jennings family as part of the Donation Land Claim Act of 1850. From 1905 to 2013, when the remaining acreage was sold off, this land was a center for growth and community life. Formations is pleased to have been part of telling this local story. If you ever find yourself in the Jennings Lodge neighborhood stop by to learn more about this bit of local history!

Calling all aviation enthusiasts! There is some rich history at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington. Here you can visit Pearson Field, which is one of the oldest continuously operating airfields in the United States. Soon visitors can come learn about the exciting history of aviation in the Pacific Northwest at Pearson Air Museum, one of Formation’s newest projects.

Formations designed, built, and installed these exhibits in the Grant PUD Visitor Center in Beverly, Washington.Visitors are invited to explore the regions’s connection with the river through graphic murals, artifacts, props, and interactives. The exhibit even includes a mock-up control room that puts visitors in control of the flow of water and power generation, enabling visitors to discover how these processes impact the environment and infrastructures throughout the state.

Our this week is the Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor, Washington. Formations fabricated and installed these exhibits chronicling the robust history of Washington State’s Gig Harbor Peninsula, from the native Puyallup fishing people to the Scandinavian settlers of a century ago.
