Before QR codes I used to sign my website URL on my drawings so people could find me. In 2015 I took a biomechanical tick illustration called Acarite to the Oregon Country Fair in Eugene. It sold on the last day. It ended up in a published book. It sold at a gallery. And years later it was still showing up in Google search data long after the original post came down. This is that story.

Brand architecture is the system behind how a company organizes its brands, products, and sub-brands. Google does it one way. Procter and Gamble does it another. Most businesses never think about it until growth forces the question. This guide covers what it is and how to get it right before that moment arrives.

If your brand is using AI generated images you may not own what you think you own. The law is clear on this and has been since 2023. This post covers what US copyright law actually says about AI generated images and code in 2026 and what brands need to do before building their visual identity on assets they cannot legally defend.

I asked ChatGPT to recreate my biomechanical illustration style using my own work as a reference. The result looks like a cheap knockoff. Not because the AI is unsophisticated but because the knowledge that makes the style coherent was never written down anywhere in language a model could learn from. This post is the most specific evidence I have seen of the gap between aesthetic approximation and genuine creative understanding.

A website that looks great but does not generate inquiries has a conversion problem. This post covers what conversion strategy actually means, why it has to happen before design begins, and what websites look like when it was never done.

Before color, before texture, before anything digital there is a line on paper. This post is about that line. Monoline illustration as a discipline, where it shows up in the work, and where it can go that other illustration styles cannot including stained glass, engraving, embroidery, and permanent architectural installations.

A decade of illustration work in one post. Biomechanical creatures, character-driven packaging, concert poster series, live drawing at the Portland Art Museum, hand lettering, and a senior thesis project built entirely from hand-drawn type. This is what the range looks like.

If your brand looks different depending on where a customer finds you, you are losing trust before anyone reads a word about what you do. This post covers why brand inconsistency happens and exactly what fixing it involves.

Another new insect for the series. I'm really enjoying these new bug studies.
