A local customer lost water pressure in her home. She said she needed a stipend. I arrived and assessed the situation and found that multiple sharkbite fittings were used to repair previous pipe freezes and blowouts over the years, as well as a sleeve clamp on the main line. The stipend she referred to, was actually the "SLIP END" of the failed sharkbite connector, which was old and the letters weren't legible.
They were gracious and kind and gave me a piece of pipe and figured I could cob it up once again with the materials they had, but I respectfully declined. I Don't Cob Anything.
The copper pipe they provided was m rated, about ".028 thick, and under a trailer exposed to the elements would have burst again in November.
If I'm going to fix something, it will be fixed right the first time. I removed the entire section, replaced it with an L rated (".040 thick) piece and soldered it on after adding additional support to raise the whole pipe further off the ground. After opening the water valve, it immediately leaked next to the valve from an improper solder connection and relocating it... so I fixed that too.
Total time including a run to home depot for the thicker pipe and connectors, about an hour and a half.
Turning the water back on so a family could cook, clean, shower, and continue their lives...
Priceless.

Isolating the hot water system from the oil furnace and installing a new energy efficient 50 gallon electric hot water heater.....
