A domain name revealed the person behind Libs of Tik-Tok.

Last October, she apparently decided to protect her brand. In addition to the .com, she also registered the matching domain in .net, .org, .info and .us. That last one ended up being a mistake.

The United States still doesn't allow Whois privacy for .us domain names, so ALL of her contact info (name, address, phone and email is publicly displayed on the Whois record for that particular domain for all of the world to see.

And that, as they say, is the rest of the story...

Fun facts...
1. In December of 2020, there were about 2.5 MILLION new .com domains registered... just .coms

2. GoDaddy is an absolute beast in this industry. It ended 2020 with 55 MILLION domain under management, i.e. domains that are registered with them. That's as many as the next ten registrars COMBINED.

Ever wonder why it's called *air* BnB?

Two pals turned their place into a ‘designers bed and breakfast’ - offering young designers who were coming into San Francisco a place to crash during a 4 day designers event - complete with wireless internet, a small desk space, and 3 AIR MATTRESSES along with breakfast each day.

Their first biz name was Air Bed and Breakfast, and so registered AirBedandBreakfast. com. They struggled to get funding for several months to expand...

It wasn't until they shortened their name and registered AirBnB. com ten months later that funding ($600K) opened up to them.

Your domain name really does matter.

Here's another angry offer. This one is from Trevor:

"$880 is a robbery and I only entered it because I had to. Cut your price down to a fraction of that and then we can haggle. I don't have to have this particular domain either."
