Ley’s Radio & TV closes its Doors after 100 years.
Our long time radio and television electronics business, Ley’s Radio and Television, Inc. located on Webster Street, Quitman, Ga. closed January of 2025. The business was founded, when radios first became popular, by our grandfather, O. A. Ley, in 1925 as Ley’s Radio Shop. It has, now, served Quitman and the surrounding area for 100 years. After working in the family business with our parents, William (Bill) and Sarah Ley, Gregg and I continued the business, as co-owners, after the passing of our father Bill Ley in 1992. During our lifetime, we have embraced the many changes in electronics. We watched as the large tube televisions of ole evolved into the computerized flat screen models enjoyed today. Our continued learning allowed us the opportunity to incorporate multiple facets of electronics into our business. By doing so, we were able to serve our community in other areas, such as communications for police and fire departments, EMS and our schools.
It is with mixed emotions that we make the announcement of our closing but feel the time has come to retire. We have enjoyed our work and the friendships we have developed over the years with our loyal customers. We wish to thank everyone for allowing us to serve this great community. We count it a privilege to have been able to do what we enjoyed, provide for our families, as well as serve others. It has been a great journey over the years. Thanks, again, to all who shared the journey with us.
