General Micro Systems

General Micro Systems Since 1979, General Micro Systems has been providing the most diverse line of single-board computers in the industry.

GMS is the most established VME and cPCI supplier in the world, shipping SBCs on VME platforms since the VMEbus’ inception in 1981 (GMSV06, 68000 CPU). We pride ourselves on a unique vision of the SBC market and have long been providing pace-setting products such as Pentium SBCs on VME (GMSV2P2, Slot-1 Pentium), upgradable processor modules (SPARC, PPC and Pentium) and I/O modules on SBC (SAM™ Mod

ules), which have been adopted throughout the industry. GMS was the company that introduced industry-first software tools such as VME/IP (TCP/IP over VME), multi CPU Real Time kernel, and RAMP (Real-time Asymmetrical Multi-Processing), which have all gone on to become standards in the industry. As the oldest active member of VITA (VMEbus International Trade Association) and PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group), and through our long-term relationships with key silicon providers such as Intel, GMS has an informed vision of technology and market directions. This vision, combined with 29 years of direct experience in the SBC market, enables us to offer our customers technology road maps to stay ahead of their competition and to be ready to deploy stable, advanced technology with long life cycles. Our combined VME, VXS, VPX and cPCI product line is the most advanced, complete product line of its type in the world with more options and features than any other supplier. We consistently produce quality products at the lowest price possible, and we're well known to have the best customer service and engineering team to address any technical issues. The belief that underlies our R&D is that VPX will be a dominant architecture in defense and rugged applications for the next decade, while VME will still be the choice for legacy and hard Real-Time systems. Intel platforms will continue to replace PowerPC and SPARC microprocessors in embedded bus-based systems. Our entire Intel-centered product line is based on the IEA (Intel Embedded Architecture) road map to guarantee long life cycles, support and continuity. GMS products meet all ranges of environmentally demanding applications, from office grade to rugged and severe environments, and are available in either convection or conduction-cooled formats with varying temperature profiles. We also provide complete systems based on any of our SBCs. Last but not least, we welcome the opportunity to modify any of our products to meet specific OEM applications. Contact your local sales office to discuss availability and your unique requirements.
