The second annual Second Lady's 2026 Summer Reading Challenge for children in K-8. Participants who read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4 will receive a personalized certificate and an America 250th anniversary-themed bookmark. Ms. Joy came into the Library today to check and see if the dinosaurs were behaving. She thinks they must always be hungry because they got into the seed library and were taking the seeds.

UPDATE --- All the spots have been taken.

What's the perfect way to celebrate America's 250th birthday? How about a Build-a-Friend to have as a keepsake? The Central Plains Library System has teamed up with the Ravenna Public Library to give us a great discount. These Build-a-Friends usually cost $14. Because CPLS ordered such a bulk order, we get a $2 discount, and CPLS will also pay $2 knocking the price down to $10 each. Our Library Board decided to use some of our 250th Carnegie money to make it only cost you $5 each. You must pre register for a Build-a-Friend. You must pay the $5 per animal, when you register. You must specify which friend you would like to build. Buffalo or Eagle.
We will have a program on June 30th @ 2pm. We will read several books about America, eat a snack, and build our friend. (Limited to the first 50 to register - open to all ages)
