Color. Is. Everything. 🌈 Let's make sure yours is working for you, not against you.
One of the most overlooked aspects of a great headshot? How your outfit interacts with your background and location. Here's what to keep in mind:
🖤 Against a light or white background: Darker clothing creates gorgeous contrast and makes you pop. Think navy, charcoal, deep burgundy, or forest green.
🤍 Against a dark background: Mid-tones and lighter shades help you stand out without washing out… think dusty blue, warm grey, soft blush, or cream.
🌿 Shooting outdoors or on location? Earthy tones like olive, rust, warm brown, and camel blend beautifully with natural settings. Avoid neon! The sun is already doing a lot, we don't need your shirt competing. 😄
⚠️ Golden rule: Never wear the exact same color as your background. You will disappear. We've seen it. It's not cute.
And here's a little something to think about beyond just the shoot itself… does your current image library actually reflect who you are today? First impressions happen in seconds, and your photos are often the very first thing a potential client sees. If your headshot is from 2015, it might be time for a little refresh. Just saying. 😉
