Nevada's most important rush job happened 162 years ago.
In 1864, Nevada needed to get its constitution to Washington, D.C., before the presidential election. The original copies hadn't arrived, so Territorial Governor James Nye came up with another plan.
Send the entire 16,543-word constitution by telegraph.
It took two days and cost more than $4,300, but it worked. On October 31, 1864, Nevada became the 36th state.
At Reno Type, we appreciate a good rush job story, especially one that involves solving a problem when the usual methods aren't working!
We're proud to call Nevada home.
**We'll be closed Friday, October 30, for Nevada Day and will reopen Monday, November 2.** If you have an upcoming project deadline, please contact us in advance.
Happy Nevada Day!
