Richmond BizSense The Pitch: Advertising and marketing news for 4.26.22

EVERGIB completed branding for Big Kitchen Hospitality‘s Conejo restaurant. Work included brand strategy, messaging, creative direction and website design and development. The agency collaborated with 903 Creative on logo and visual identity work, which features a rabbit and Mexican heirloom corn in reference to Conejo’s Spanish translation and associations.

We love getting into the Halloween spirit almost as much as we love poster designs. So this project for our friends at Crazy Rooster Brewing Company was definitely a treat. Strong retro gig poster vibes to honor their Grateful Dead-inspired brand, and Warren Zevon-inspired (socially-distanced) event.

We are excited to unveil the renaming and rebranding work we led for our client HousingForward Virginia, formerly Housing Virginia. On a mission to equip advocates to advance affordability, HousingForward Virginia needed a name and presence that reflects their focus on insights and innovation to create change.

Our city – and the world – has risen up to fight racial injustice and police brutality. Up to this point, we’ve dismissed our own voice as too small or inconsequential, but it’s past time for us to join the chorus of voices crying BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Like others, we have been listening & learning - trying to educate ourselves on an unjust system. We’ve dissected our privilege and challenged our complacency. Why haven’t we joined the BLM conversation before now? Why did we tolerate the confederate monuments as a fixture of the Richmond landscape, only supporting their removal when others raised the issue? Why haven’t we fought for those under-represented in our industry? Why haven’t we done more? How can we do better?

We are striving to be more proactive. We have made antiracism literature available to our team to further our education. We have joined initiatives to provide pro-bono design services to Black Lives Matters efforts and BIPOC clients. We are actively trying to work with groups to remove confederate statue imagery from other touchpoints throughout the city. We are signing petitions. We are donating. We are committed to this fight.

We will likely have some missteps along the way, but we will work hard to improve. As we continue to find our lane in all of this, please know that we are proud to keep moving forward alongside other folks engaged in antiracist work. We love you and we support you.

The Virginia War Memorial has closed all interior spaces, and will not be hosting any groups, tours, events, or programs until further notice. Alongside 28 Media, we worked with the Virginia War Memorial Foundation to completely overhaul their website - including redesigned features such as the Brick Locator and Veteran Database. In addition to the new website, we refreshed their branding to address a variety of aesthetic and production concerns, while leveraging the existing spirit and equity of their identity. Once this craziness is behind us, pay them a visit to see the updated branding in action.
