One of my favorite parts of this job is getting into rooms with people who are doing incredible things for their communities or their customers, but are struggling to tell that story in the digital space.
The truth is, itās 2026. Itās not about not having enough to post about anymore, and itās definitely not about not having the tools. Most of us have an iPhone in our pocket and a tripod on Amazon costs less than $20.
What usually holds people back now is getting stuck in the details. Wondering if the same rules that had everyone obsessing over perfectly curated Instagram feeds back in 2018 still apply today.
Iām here to remind you⦠they donāt.
No, you donāt need your logo on every post.
No, you donāt need to turn everything into a generic Canva flyer.
And no, you donāt need to stress about the exact time youāre posting or how long itās been since your last one.
People donāt want perfection. They want connection.
They want to see you, get to know you, and feel excited about the work youāre doing day in and day out. They want the big wins, the behind-the-scenes moments, and yes, even the boring stuff. Cleaning out a filing cabinet, prepping for a meeting, getting ready for your next customer⦠itās all part of the story.
Tell the whole story.
And trust me, thatās coming from someone who spends a lot of time telling everyone elseās story while sometimes forgetting to tell her own.
But the reminder still stands: itās not about aesthetics or perfection anymore. Itās about showing up with the real, everyday moments. Let your clients and your community hear your voice, see what youāre building, and understand the work that goes into it.
The algorithm will figure itself out.
Because nine times out of ten, itās not about how many likes you get⦠itās about how many clients you book and how many people walk through your door.
