Today, we feature Dr. Maria Telkes who created solar heating for residential housing in 1947. Dr. Telkes was also a psychiatrist and solar power pioneer. Next, the medical syringe that could be operated by only one hand was invented by a woman named Letitia Geer in 1899.

During the ice skating event she helped several people learn to skate and was incredibly kind and considerate; by the time we got off the ice people who’d never skated before had done multiple laps! Also generally is such a positive presence in the WiC space and fun to talk to!
