Pixel Logic - First Tech Challenge is a 9th-12th grade high school robotics program that introduces high-schoolers to modern robotics. Our team consists of 6 boys from Mayo High School: Sam, Zach, Alex, Avi, Michael and Grant. The robotics program consists of hardware development, software design and outreach. First Tech Challenge (FTC) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes early scientif
ic and engineering experience for students. Successful participation in the program consists in building a complete robot which should be able to function autonomously and under remote control by operators. These features are showcased in regional, state and national competitions organized by FTC. Details of the FTC program are available at www.usfirst.org
The impact is at multiple levels. Members of our team discover and expand their interest and excitement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). We learn to collaborate as team members in the design, planning and ex*****on of the robotics program. Our team then showcases its product, the finalized robot, in competition with other teams at the regional, state and possibly national level. Also, our team plans to reach out to younger students at different locations in Rochester, to demonstrate the robotics program and to generate a spark of excitement and enthusiasm in the younger students in this community.
