Although Microsoft has extended ESU support from October of this year to October 2027, which will allow Windows 10 users to stay on the OS and keep receiving security updates, it still makes sense to upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible. A new study by Lansweeper has found that there are around 3 times as many active security vulnerabilities on the older OS than there are on it's newer counterpart.

Microsoft has recently decided to extend ESU for Windows 10 until October of next year for Home users. The decision likely comes as a result of continued computer price increases and component shortages that could prevent users from buying a new computer system capable of running Windows 11. As a result, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates and patches to keep users secure on Windows 10.
