The job that earns the review is not the same as the review that books the next job.

A shop finishes a job well. The customer is happy. Nobody asks for a review, so the next person searching sees a thin profile and picks the competitor with dozens of reviews instead.

Reviews are the first thing a new customer checks before they call. One ask at the end of a good job is all it takes to build the profile that wins the next one.

That is the kind of thing we set up at Copper City Digital. Your website, your reviews, your search presence, all working together so the next customer picks you.

Want your reviews working as hard as your crew does? Message us and we will show you how.

Saturday night October 31st drops to 29 degrees in Rome, and outdoor faucets are about to become emergency calls.

A hose left connected to an outdoor spigot traps water in the pipe. When it freezes, the pipe splits, and the homeowner finds out when it thaws. The fix is simple: disconnect the hose, shut off the outdoor line, and drain it before the freeze.

The shops that remind their customers to do it this week are the shops those customers call when something bursts. That reminder is a text, a post, a line on your website. It takes five minutes to send and it puts your number in a customer's phone right before the season when they need it most.

Winter is the busy season for plumbers who are ready for it. Want your shop to be the one customers call? Message us and we'll get you set up.

We spent some time this week looking at a tree removal company's online listings near Utica, and found something worth sharing.

Their Nextdoor and Birdeye profiles were both unclaimed. Both of them were linking out to a different tree company with the same name, based all the way in Sarasota, Florida.

So if a customer clicked the website link on either listing, they'd end up on the wrong company's site, not the one near Utica at all.

It's an easy thing to miss, since nobody gets a notification when an unclaimed listing has the wrong information on it.

If you've got a business listing out there that you never claimed, it might be worth a quick look this week to see where it's actually sending people.

Tonight drops to 31 degrees in Rome, and furnaces pick nights like this to quit.

When a homeowner wakes up to a cold house, they call the first heating company they find. If nobody answers, they do not leave a message and wait. They call the next one. The company that picks up gets the job.

That is why shops are putting an AI receptionist on their phones. Ours is Penny. She answers every call, day or night, books the appointment, and texts us the details. No missed calls, no jobs quietly going to the shop down the road.

Winter is coming whether your phone is covered or not. Want a “Penny” of your own? Call 315-277-9993 and talk to her yourself.

One of our storage clients wasn't showing up on Google Maps at all back in September. You could search her business by name and nothing would come up.

Her Google listing finally finished verifying this month, and now she's sitting right at the top when people search for storage near her. Her website is even beating out a competitor that used to show up first when people searched her name.

Nothing fancy happened here. Her profile just needed to finish going live. If you've set up your Google Business Profile but never double checked that it's actually verified, it might be worth a look.

Tonight's low in Rome is 31 degrees. Furnaces across Central NY are about to earn their keep for the next six months.

Every fall, when the heat won't kick on, homeowners call whoever they can find. If your heating business isn't showing up in those searches, those jobs go to the shop down the road.

Copper City Digital builds websites for local trades that turn searches into calls. Based in Rome, NY. No long-term contracts.

Search your own website for the names of the towns you serve. It only takes a couple of minutes.

A lot of local business websites just say something like 'serving the local area' and leave it there. The trouble is, that's not what people actually type when they're searching for help nearby. They type their town's name, or the neighborhood they live in.

If your website never says those names, it's harder for search engines, and for the person reading your homepage, to connect you with that search. Naming the towns and neighborhoods you serve, right there on your website, answers the question fast: yes, we come to you.

If you cover five towns, name all five. If it's really just one neighborhood you know well, say that instead of something vague. Worth a quick look at what your site says today.

A self storage business we work with had a Google Business Profile that had never been verified by Google. It looked fine on the page, but it never showed up with a pin on the map.

A few blocks away, a similar storage business was verified. It showed up in the map results and picked up traffic that should have gone to our client instead.

We walked them through Google's video verification method, filming a walk around the facility the way Google asks for it. They ran it themselves this week, and it passed on the first try. The listing went live with its own pin, something that had never happened before.

It's a reminder that a profile being filled out and a profile being verified are two different things. The first makes the page look good if someone lands on it directly. The second is what gets the page into the map results people actually scroll through.

If your business has a Google Business Profile, it's worth checking which one you have.

If you run a salon or barbershop, try booking an appointment on your own website the way a client would.

Some booking pages let you pick a real time slot and you're done. Others just show a Book Now button that dials the shop, so the client ends up calling anyway, maybe during a haircut, maybe leaving a voicemail that doesn't get returned until the next day.

Both look like online booking from the outside. Only one actually saves anyone a phone call. Worth a few minutes this week to see which one you've got.

This week was a good one. We finished building a text alert system for a consignment shop we work with, ready to send a photo of new inventory, with prices, straight to customers' phones the moment it comes in.

No social post to hope people see. No waiting around. Once it's live, the photo goes out and people find out about the new stuff within a minute.

New inventory is tricky for a shop like this because it shows up whenever it shows up, and the good pieces don't last long. A text means people find out fast, before anything's picked over.

We're glad we got to build this one. Simple idea, and it's ready to do exactly what it's supposed to.
