The Jacob’s Ladder Group is a leader in therapeutic, educational care for the neurodiverse population. Since 1998, Jacob’s Ladder has transformed over 4,000 lives through The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® (IWBMC™), our unique, science-backed methodology that utilizes a whole-brain, whole-person approach with individualized treatment plans. Jacob's Ladder School uses a person-centered approach and instruction to help clients experience outcomes never thought possible. Accredited by SAIS-Cognia as a non-profit private school and therapeutic entity, Jacob’s Ladder offers full- and part-time enrollment and remote care options to help more families and communities carve a path toward hope and healing. Our comprehensive software solution provides global access to the science of the IWBMC™. With over 1,300 assessment metrics and 4,000 corresponding strategies, AHAVA empowers trained providers and evaluators to evaluate clients, design individualized programs, and implement therapeutic activities. A key test for any model of care is whether it holds up in new places, with new teams, in their very first year.

Our pilot study looked at outcomes at Jacob’s Ladder and at newer affiliate sites implementing the IWBMC™ in their first year. Across every outcome measured, researchers found no statistically significant differences between the established site and the first-year affiliates. These findings offer an encouraging first look at how a whole-person approach may translate across different settings.

The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® pairs whole-brain, whole-person care with structured training and ongoing outcome measurement, which is what makes studying implementation possible.

Behind every reading score is a child discovering what they can do ❤️

In our pilot study, students with complete academic testing data improved their reading scores by an average of 15.5 standard score points. Three out of four of these students made gains beyond what would be expected from measurement variability alone—an encouraging finding as we continue studying their progress.

Reading draws on many connected abilities, including language, auditory processing, attention, and sequential processing. Through the Individualized Whole Brain Model of Care® (IWBMC™), we look at how these foundations work together and what each child needs to move forward.

Because the meaning of progress reaches beyond a test score. It can be the confidence to try a word again, the joy of understanding a story, or the growing belief that “I can do this.”

For Dylan’s mom, those words came after reading an evaluation that described her son’s brightness, contagious laugh, beaming smile, and playful spirit.

Every morning at Jacob’s Ladder, someone walks through the door having already decided to give their best to the child sitting in front of them.

Families see what that choice builds over time. A first word, a calmer afternoon, a skill that finally clicks, and behind each moment is a teacher or staff who came back the next day and the day after that, because they’ve watched change happen and they believe it will happen again.
