A modern history in which we all participate!
In the last few weeks, the world's attention has been focused on one event - russia's attack on Ukraine. Millions of people from dozens of countries support Ukraine, send aid and hold rallies against russian aggression.
We created this post to give a brief explanation of what has happened in Ukraine in recent years and what happened before the war.
It is worth starting in 2013, when Ukrainian students went to a peaceful rally in support of Ukraine's European integration. The protests began on November 21 as a reaction to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to suspend the process of preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. This event in Ukraine is known as Euromaidan. The situation worsened when the Berkut special forces were used to disperse peaceful protests on November 30.
After the brutal beating of students, all concerned citizens began to take to the streets, and there were already about half a million of them! Thus began the Revolution of Dignity. The focus of the protests has shifted from pro-European to anti-government and now one of the main demands of the people has been the removal from power of President Viktor Yanukovych and his "family" and the reluctance of the Ukrainian people to accept the country's de facto transformation colonies of russia.
On January 19, 2014, after the adoption of the so-called "dictatorial laws" restricting the freedoms of citizens, the confrontation on the Maidan entered a violent phase. As a result of street fighting, about a hundred protesters were killed, who were later dubbed the "Heavenly Hundred". The finale of this incredible battle for statehood was the president's "self-removal" from power on February 23 and his flight to russia. The Ukrainian people won ... in this battle…
