The DEA’s PPAEMA Final Rule has been in effect since March, and by now agencies should have a clear handle on what changed.

EMS agencies are now responsible for their own DEA registration, which means the accountability sits with the agency too.

That includes documentation, chain of custody, and making sure your records are actually ready when someone asks for them.

This is exactly the kind of problem we built LogRx to solve.

If you want the full breakdown, the link is in the comments.

Six months into the new DEA rules, there’s a big difference between knowing the regulations and knowing what compliance actually looks like in the field.

Join LogRx co-founder Clive Savacool and retired DEA Special Agent Dennis Wichern who is LogRx’s DEA compliance consultant, for a live conversation covering all 11 requirements of the new PPAEMA legislation, what agencies are seeing so far, and where enforcement may be heading.

Bring your questions. Dennis will be answering them live.

Inventory management is one of those things that looks simple until something is missing.

I’ve been on the other side of that count. You need to know what you have, where it is, who touched it, and whether the record backs it up.

That is why we built LogRx to make controlled substance inventory faster, cleaner, and easier to trust.

This is one of those details that can get ugly fast.

Most agencies log controlled substances when they come in, but miss the storage access piece.

Who opened the safe? When? Was it documented?

If that answer is unclear, your chain of custody has a hole in it.

Is your agency missing this critical chain of custody step?

It's not just about receiving controlled substances.
You also need to know where they are stored, who had access, and when.

Here's a throwback for this Thursday!

A lot has changed since these days, but the lessons stuck with me.

The fire service taught me a lot about leadership, accountability, and making sure the systems around your crew actually work.

That mindset is a big part of why I built LogRx.

Medics always sign off on their narcotics 15 minutes after the shift starts, right?
Magically within policy when it's pen and paper!
(I'm guilty of it myself)

We created LogRx to be both accurate and easy ... and medics actually like it!

Every vial, box, and seal needs a record you can trust.

That is why we use QR Code tracking in LogRx. Scan the item, document the action, and keep the chain of custody moving without digging through paper logs or guessing what happened.

In EMS, the small details become big problems fast.

Track them before they do.
