We get asked about AI a lot. Usually the question underneath it is simple: is there something here my team should be using?

For most of our clients, the answer is Copilot. It runs inside Microsoft products including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, so nobody has to learn a new program. The entry points are pretty easy including helping you write emails, or catching up on a meeting missed in two minutes, or you can qucikly get a formula in excel without searching for it.

The newer piece, Copilot Cowork, can start automating parts of your work for you. This isn't set up to make decisions for you, this is set up to take the repetitive work off your desk so you and your people can spend their time on the parts of the job that need them.

Here's a date worth knowing if your office is still running Windows 10.

Starting August 2026, Word, Excel, and Outlook stop getting new features on Windows 10 machines.

Security updates keep coming through October 2028, so nothing breaks and nothing becomes unsafe right away. The core apps will keep working for years.

What changes is everything after that. New tools, AI features, and interface updates all land on Windows 11 first from here forward. Over time, the gap between what a Windows 10 machine can do and what a Windows 11 machine can do will keep growing, even though both are technically still supported.

Microsoft offers a free PC Health Check tool that takes about ten minutes and tells you which of your machines are eligible to move to Windows 11 and which ones might need new hardware first. Worth running that check now, while there is no deadline pressure attached to it.

Last week a ransomware attack shut down US milk production at Fairlife, the dairy brand owned by Coca-Cola.

Here is the part worth noticing.

In the same disclosure, Coca-Cola said it promptly activated its incident response and business continuity protocols, brought in outside experts, and notified law enforcement. Product quality and safety were not affected, and production kept running.

None of that response came from a firewall or better tech. It came from a plan that existed before the bad day, with people who knew their roles and a clear way to communicate.

Here is a useful exercise for this week, and it costs nothing.

Pull up your business continuity plan (does your company have one?) and check three things:

1. Response leaders are named: Someone specific holds the authority to make the calls, and they know it.

2.Your contact list lives off the network: Key staff, your IT provider's after-hours line, your insurer, your bank. Current, and stored somewhere you can reach when your systems are down.

3. A tabletop drill is on the calendar: One hour, next month, walking through a scenario together. This the single best way to find the gaps while they are still cheap to fix.

Coca-Cola's plan worked because it was ready before anyone needed it. Yours can be too, and checking takes less than an hour.
