💻 How much internet speed do you REALLY need?

Internet plans are often advertised with bigger and bigger numbers — but what do those numbers actually mean for everyday use?

Here are a few real-world examples:

📺 Netflix
• HD (720p): 3 Mbps or higher
• Full HD (1080p): 5 Mbps or higher
• 4K: 15 Mbps or higher

💼 Zoom
• 1-on-1 720p HD: 1.2 Mbps up/down
• Group 720p HD: 2.6 Mbps up / 1.8 Mbps down
• 1080p HD: about 3–4 Mbps up/down

📱 FaceTime
Apple requires an internet connection for FaceTime but does not publish one specific Mbps recommendation — video quality can depend on your connection and device.

Keep in mind: your household shares its available bandwidth.

One person watching Netflix is very different from someone watching Netflix while another person is on Zoom, the kids are online and several other devices are connected.
