We did not simply give away a mural.

Together, we transformed an empty wall into a new landmark for Greenwood.

Amity Coffee Roasters & Cafe was selected as the recipient of the 2026 WALS Annual Mural Giveaway because of the role it already plays in bringing people together. Its message, “Cultivating Community,” perfectly reflects what we believe public art can accomplish.

During our first two painting days, more than 75 people joined us at the wall. Children, families, local business and property owners, Amity owners Melody and Elmer Slaubaugh, longtime WALS supporters and people who simply happened to be passing through all helped bring the mural to life.

After the community painting experience, our artists completed the extensive painting, refinement and finishing work required to bring the entire wall together.

This mural was painted by Brandon Bell alongside Leandra Peterson, Rebecca Taylor, Miriam Moran and Nadine Brittingham, with support from our newest WALS intern, Samantha Minner.

Each person played a role in turning this massive wall and meaningful idea into what you see today. Please help us celebrate and recognize the artists behind the work.

Greenwood had very little visible public art before this project. Today, “Cultivating Community” greets people as they travel through town and turns Amity’s mission into a message for the entire community.

The community did not simply receive a finished mural. They became part of creating it.

Our Annual Mural Giveaway will return, with applications for the next recipient opening in December 2026. If your business or organization has a visible wall and a meaningful connection to its community, stay tuned. The next wall we transform could be yours.

When a business or organization hires WALS, they are not simply commissioning a mural. They are giving something meaningful to their community.

Community has been at the heart of WALS since our very first project.

Our first mural, "Believe" ,created in collaboration with Delmarva Veteran Builders, included three evenings of community painting. Early in the process, we realized this mural was more than just a design on a wall. It belonged to everyone who would live with it, pass by it, and be inspired by its message.

Chris, CEO of Delmarva Veteran Builders, wanted the mural to encourage people to believe in one another. When we asked if we could invite the community to help paint it, he immediately supported the idea.

Chris brought his family. Salisbury’s mayor at the time brought his family. Brandon’s late mother joined us. Countless other families and individuals picked up brushes and helped bring the mural to life.

Those evenings gave people more than an opportunity to paint. They gave them a sense of connection and shared ownership in something created for their community. Many of the people we met became some of our greatest allies and continue to support the work we do today.

That experience helped define WALS.

We are not just another mural company. We are a community-centered public art organization. Whenever a project allows, we invite people into the creative process so the finished work is not simply something they see, but something they helped create.

When you partner with WALS, you are investing in more than a wall. You are creating a lasting gift for your community.

The final photos are here!

We had the privilege of creating this welcoming entrance mural for Junior Achievement Eastern Shore designed to greet students the moment they walk through the door while playfully incorporating the JA brand and serving as a unique wayfinding experience.

A huge thank you to the entire Junior Achievement team for trusting us with this project and collaborating with us throughout the design process. It was a pleasure bringing this vision to life, and we can’t wait to see the impact it has on the students who experience this space.

This mural was designed by Brandxn Bell and C3 Art . Christian, who lives in Tennessee and is a friend of Brandon’s, helped with the composition and positioning of many of the design elements, while Brandon led the project’s creative direction to ensure everything fit, flowed, and worked together as one cohesive experience.

It was then brought to life by an incredible team of artists.

BEC ꕥ and jackarthr , our spring interns, took on much of the painting independently without someone leading them through the installation. They handled a significant portion of the project on their own and did a fantastic job.

shailinn , who has worked with us many times before, brought her own creative instincts to the mural, freestyling several areas and finding the placements that best completed the design.

Bex continues to be an absolute joy to work with and is as efficient and effective as they come.

Samantha Nibblett also lent a hand on this project, taking on the county lettering featured throughout the map. Along with several other WALS projects, this was one of the opportunities she had to paint with our team before creating her very own mural at Shore Walls.

And a thank you to Ellery Beck who jumped in whenever she had the time to help us move the project forward. Every helping hand made a difference.

Thank you again to Junior Achievement for believing in our team. We hope this mural welcomes and inspires students for many years to come.

Shore Walls 2026 may have been brought to life by the artists, but behind every mural was an entire network of people working quietly to make it all possible.

There were people helping with months of pre-planning, coordinating logistics, preparing spaces, setting up, solving problems, supporting artists, welcoming visitors, giving tours, and stepping in wherever they were needed.

One person we especially want to recognize is Derek Jarmon with the City of Salisbury, Maryland. Derek played a major role throughout the entire process, from early planning and setup to providing daily support during the festival. He was constantly helping behind the scenes, connecting people, answering questions, and even giving visitors golf cart tours of the murals!

And Derek was one of many. City staff, volunteers, committee members, property owners, sponsors, community partners, artists, musicians, photographers, vendors, friends, and family all contributed in ways that the public may never fully see.

Shore Walls 2026 did not happen because of one person or organization. It happened because an entire community believed in it and helped carry it forward.

To everyone who gave their time, energy, resources, ideas, patience, and support, thank you. You helped make the first Shore Walls something truly special. ❤️🎨
