Congratulations to our FARO 3D Laser Scanning Level 1 class! 🎉

Two full days, and this group made it through. On Day 1 they covered scanner setup, scan planning, and the settings that drive clean, accurate captures. On Day 2 they worked in FARO SCENE, registering scans, cleaning up point clouds, and exporting deliverables ready for real projects.

Day 1 is underway at our Technical Development Center! 🎓

Our FARO 3D Laser Scanning Level 1 class kicked off this morning in Salisbury, with Lukas Duruttya leading a full room through scanner setup, scan planning, and the theory behind clean, accurate data capture. Tomorrow the group moves into FARO SCENE for registration, point cloud cleanup, and exporting deliverables their teams can actually use.

DJI just launched its 2026 World Heritage 3D Conservation Initiative, inviting drone operators to capture and digitally preserve cultural and natural landmarks using aerial mapping, DJI Terra reconstruction, and 3D flythrough videos through DJI Reality. Submissions are open through October 10, and it’s a fun reminder of how far drone-based photogrammetry has come — from job site progress flights to literally archiving history. If you’ve got a drone sitting in the truck, this could make for a great side project. Know of a local landmark worth mapping? Tell us in the comments — we might just want to fly it too.
