But QuickBooks is a great starting point. Not an endpoint.

If your system was built in-house, that moment is way more serious than an HR matter. It is:
• Zero guarantee anyone else understands the code
• Risk that any bug becomes critical
• Impossible to make changes while you find a replacement

An in-house custom system has three big risks:

2. Tech freezes (still PHP 5, old .NET, Access)
3. Every regulatory change is an internal project
