What a great night in Orange County for How I Hack You (Before It Happens)

Huge thank you to everyone who joined Bird Rock Systems and our partners Nasuni, Aruba Networking, Juniper Networks and Sumo Logicat Water Grill for an evening full of cybersecurity conversations, networking, and real-world insights into how attackers actually operate.

From pe*******on testing stories to discussions around risk, visibility, and security gaps, the room was packed with great questions and even better conversations between IT and security leaders across OC.

Big thank you to James for leading such an engaging session and to everyone who spent their evening with us. We truly appreciate the support and look forward to seeing you at the next Bird Rock Systems event.

Most IT leaders don’t lack information.
They lack confidence in what they don’t see.

The next board update, budget lock, or incident will demand answers, and it’s easier to build clarity now than explain uncertainty later.

Hidden risks, quiet misconfigurations, stretched capacity, and recovery assumptions do not show up on dashboards until it’s too late.

Just start with this Self‑Assessment.

Not to grade your environment but to help you pause and ask:
- What are we assuming is fine?
- What haven’t we looked at recently?
- Where would leadership want clearer answers?

Huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Phoenix for How I Hack You (Before It Happens) yesterday. 🌮💻🔥

Nothing says Cinco de Mayo + Taco Tuesday quite like tacos, cybersecurity conversations, tiny sombreros, and learning how hackers actually think. 😅

We had an amazing afternoon with the Bird Rock Systems team alongside our partners Cato Networks and Sumo Logic, diving into the real-world tactics attackers use and how organizations can better protect themselves before real damage is done.

Great conversations, great people, and a packed room of IT and security leaders. Thanks again to everyone who spent part of their holiday with us — we loved having you there.

One Health Check creates insight.
Quarterly Health Checks create discipline.

Warning: Every quarter you don’t evaluate your IT Health, drift becomes your new normal, and you end up paying for the same fixes (and the same debates) again.

In this case study, we saw:
➡️Security gaps closed proactively
➡️Operational decisions simplified
➡️Ongoing optimization replaced reactive work

Clarity compounds especially when it’s revisited intentionally.

Recovery plans that haven’t been tested are just theory.

The first time you test recovery should not be during the outage. That’s when every minute turns into real financial and reputational cost.

Leadership confidence comes from knowing:
➡️Backups actually work
➡️Assumptions have been validated
➡️Gaps are understood before a crisis

A Health Check turns recovery from a checkbox into readiness.

Most organizations believe their security risks are being identified early.

The problem?
Belief isn’t the same as evidence. The first time you get “evidence, please” shouldn’t be during an audit or after an incident.

Misconfigurations, control gaps, and outdated assumptions usually surface after an audit… or an incident.

A Health Check challenges assumptions with real data and shows where risk is quietly accumulating.
