A use-after-free vulnerability (CVE-2023-4147) with a CVSS score of 7.8 has been discovered in the Linux Kernel's Netfilter component, potentially allowing authenticated attackers to escalate privileges or crash the system.

The China-linked threat group APT40 is exploiting vulnerabilities in unpatched Fortinet network devices and Cisco routers to gain access to sensitive customer information, including text messages, voicemails, phone calls, and even a 'lawful interception' channel used for wiretaps, potentially allowing them to obtain information on over a million users, including high-ranking U.S. officials.
