🧠 Home Lab in Action

Upgrading a standard light switch → into a smart one.

Old mechanical switch.
No automation. No load monitoring.

Installing Shelly Plus 1PM inside a standard electrical box
and turning a simple lighting point into part of a smart home system.

What changes:

• smartphone control
• real-time power monitoring (W / V)
• automation & scheduling
• remote access
• physical switch still works

No fancy touch panels.
No wall demolition.
Just correct wiring and clean integration.

Next step — integration with Siri or Alexa,
so a regular light becomes part of a full ecosystem.

Smart homes don’t start with expensive systems.
They start with smart engineering.

Distributed rack-based architecture.
Basement and attic nodes connected via backbone links.

Model:
Core — Distribution — Access

Core — routing & aggregation.
Distribution — inter-rack backbone.
Access — PoE for APs and cameras.

In this build:

• Multiple rack nodes
• Zone-based patch panels
• VLAN segmentation
• PoE budget planning
• Port reserve

Topology matters more than hardware quantity.

An upgrade isn’t about replacing hardware. It’s about control.

Step by step, rebuilding the system the right way.
No shortcuts. No temporary fixes. No chaos behind the rack.

What’s happening now:
• removing outdated wiring logic
• cleaning and restructuring the rack
• optimizing power distribution
• preparing the infrastructure for future load

When a network is built correctly —
it just works.
No random drops. No surprises. No stress at the worst possible time.

Every phase builds the foundation for the next one.
That’s how stable systems are created.

Step-by-step rack upgrade.

The client reached out due to unstable internet and sound issues.

The existing equipment had simply reached its limit and wasn’t keeping up with the current load.
Instead of replacing everything at once, we decided to move forward in stages.

New equipment was purchased, and we’re gradually upgrading and reorganizing the rack.

First phase included stabilizing the Sonos system and building a new network foundation with UniFi.
Work continues.

🔧 Network & Audio Upgrade | Xfinity • •

A network and audio system upgrade has started at a client’s home in San Francisco.
The existing infrastructure is being updated and prepared for further expansion.

What has been completed:
✔️ outdated network equipment has been replaced
✔️ a router and access points from (UniFi) have been installed
✔️ stable Wi-Fi coverage has been provided across all floors
✔️ a UniFi Doorbell has been installed
✔️ the audio system has been upgraded — transitioning from first-generation hardware to next-generation equipment

Next steps:
🔹 connecting Starlink () as a backup internet connection
🔹 replacing the modem with a UniFi modem
🔹 intercom installation
🔹 installation of video cameras and a video surveillance system

We’ll continue sharing updates on this project in upcoming posts.

📺 TV Installation & Setup

Clean installation is all about the details.
Proper alignment, correct viewing height, and a neat finish —
things you appreciate every day.

On this project:
▪️ TV mounted perfectly level
▪️ correct viewing height
▪️ clean and minimal look
▪️ cable management
▪️ Smart TV setup ready

The TV blends into the interior,
not just hangs on the wall.

⚡ eero Pro 6E — a balanced mesh solution for large spaces

Working as a Xfinity technician, I keep hearing the same complaint over and over again:
👉 “I pay for gigabit internet, but I only get 30 Mbps in one of the rooms.”

Here’s the key thing to understand:
❗ The problem is usually not the provider and not the plan.
The real issue is that one router simply cannot cover the entire space —
especially in long-shaped apartments or multi-story homes.

🔧 The solution:
Additional equipment in the form of a mesh Wi-Fi system,
designed to properly distribute signal across the whole home.

In this project, we used a system based on eero Pro 6E —
one of the most popular and well-balanced options in terms of price and performance.

🛠 What was done:
• Proper mesh node placement
• Ethernet backhaul for maximum stability and speed

🚀 Result:
• Near-gigabit speeds across the entire area
• Stable connection with no drops
• Full Wi-Fi 6 / 6E support for modern devices

💡 Bottom line:
Good Wi-Fi isn’t about one powerful router.
It’s about smart network design.

but getting 30–50 Mbps in parts of your home.

Sometimes, you just want to hit pause.
To stop for a moment and look back — to where it all began.
Through the years, the conversations, the silence —
some people stay.
Not out of duty, but from the heart.
These are the anchors in our memory.
And for them, we quietly thank fate.

Some places don’t just take your breath away — they give you a reason to breathe differently.
Something is shifting. Quietly. Deeply.
