Which patients are the best fit for Remote Therapeutic Monitoring?

Strong candidates can include post-op and pre-op patients, patients struggling with their home exercise program, and those who need additional support between visits.

With RTM, clinicians can monitor adherence, symptoms, pain, and progress outside the clinic while keeping care connected to the overall plan of care.

Most of your patient’s recovery happens outside the clinic.

The new Practitioner’s Guide to Remote Therapeutic Monitoring is built to help physical therapy and orthopedic practices extend care between visits, improve patient adherence, and make better-informed clinical decisions using real-world recovery data.

It also breaks down the operational side of RTM, including workflows, billing, documentation, compliance, delivery models, patient engagement, and vendor selection.

Rural healthcare brings unique challenges around access, distance, staffing, and staying connected with patients between visits.

At the 2026 TORCH/TARHC Fall Conference, we had the opportunity to connect with rural healthcare leaders and be part of conversations around how digital health and Remote Therapeutic Monitoring can support more connected care beyond the clinic.

As care continues to extend outside traditional settings, the focus remains on giving clinicians greater visibility into the patient journey while keeping the relationship between provider and patient at the center of care.

Submitting a comment on the CMS CY 2027 proposed rule may feel intimidating, but it doesn’t need to be a lengthy legal brief.

CJ Morrow PT, DPT shares how clinicians can approach their comments by focusing on what they see every day: how remote monitoring supports patients between visits, improves access to care, and helps clinicians respond when patients need them.

Those real-world experiences can help show CMS what proposed RTM changes could mean in practice.

CMS is accepting comments through September 14. Learn more about the proposed changes and how to submit your feedback:

Remote Therapeutic Monitoring could look different in 2027, but the final policy has not been written yet.

CMS is considering changes involving patient eligibility, initiating visits, clinical staffing, and reimbursement. Healthcare professionals and organizations have an opportunity to provide feedback before CMS develops the final rule.

Public comments are open through September 14, 2026.

Be specific about which RTM proposal concerns you, how it could affect patients or clinical operations, and what change you would like CMS to consider.

Our latest blog explains the proposals, includes our CY 2027 webinar, and outlines the next steps practices can take now.

Some of the most interesting conversations at TherapyCon ’26 were about what happens after the patient leaves the clinic.

For pediatric PTs, that can mean relying on parents to help children stay consistent with their exercises while also needing HEP content that can adapt to highly individual patient needs. It was a good reminder that improving adherence isn’t always about asking patients to do more. Sometimes clinicians simply need more flexibility and visibility into what’s happening between visits.

That’s where we see a growing opportunity for RTM to support more connected care, stronger engagement, and a better understanding of patient progress throughout the plan of care.

That’s a wrap on TherapyCon ’26!

Over the past few days, we had some great conversations with rehab teams who are exploring RTM, looking to improve patient engagement and adherence, and thinking about how care can continue beyond the clinic.

It was also great to carry the momentum from our new Raintree partnership and integration into the event as we continue working toward more connected RTM workflows.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Booth 23, met the EverEx team, and shared what’s top of mind for your organization. We’re leaving TherapyCon with a lot of great conversations to continue and plenty of excitement for what’s ahead.

Remote Therapeutic Monitoring becomes harder to scale when billing and documentation live across disconnected workflows.

Through our partnership with Raintree Systems, EverEx is helping bring key RTM processes closer together. CPT code information and monthly RTM reports can flow directly into Raintree, reducing manual documentation steps and helping teams move more efficiently from patient monitoring to the information needed to support claim submission.

More connected systems can mean less administrative work behind the scenes and a simpler way for rehabilitation teams to manage RTM.
