“It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.”--Wendell Berry
When I was a teenager, I remember my father issuing a challenge, which essentially boils down to this: 'Carpe Diem, girl!' He explained to me, his oldest daughter, that no female in the history of our family had ever had the opportunities that life would present me with...and I'd better be ready to say "Yes!"
That advice stayed with me a long time, and as my career(s) began to unfold after college and my MBA program, I found myself not pushing the glass ceiling, but rather creating a patchwork quilt with my job choices. After a stint in the Foundation/grant-making world, a few years fundraising for non-profits, working for an outdoor education organization, a decade+ in the Tech World, acting President of the Board of an NGO, and now nearly a decade of entrepreneurship...it is time to move on to the next thing. (Which, in case you are wondering, is to be finalized.)
As a result, I will be closing Functional Spaces Organizing as of September 30, 2021.
