Atlassian has confirmed that a breach at a third-party vendor caused a recent leak of company data and that their network and customer information is secure.

Google explains client-side-encryption (CSE) is different to end-to-end encryption (E2EE) because clients use encryption keys that are generated and stored in a cloud-based key management service, so admins can control the keys and who has access to them. This way, the admin can revoke a user's access to keys, even if that user generated them.

What is more alarming 🤯 is the unstructured data (files and other information not stored in secure databases) was stolen. That included deeply personal medical reports such as psychological assessments of students. Screenshots from the listing also showed information from the city agency’s payroll, human resources, and accountancy files.

Summary: TechCrunch reported seeing the listing on the darkweb and LockBit’s claimed the breach. Hackers love to prey on vulnerable organizations. Local governments and nonprofits are known to have treasure troves of data and information and less cybersecurity resources than other organizations. LA is facing the reality that over 15 terabytes of data was exfiltrated from the HACLA (Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles).

LockBit is threatening to publish stolen files, including data on families who sought housing assistance from city authorities.

GarbleCloud attended the Cybersecurity San Antonio

Thanks to our vCMO Wendy B. Gratereaux for giving us a peek into the event.

The Federal Government is focused on innovating and advancing our ability to adapt, be agile, and drive adoption.

Although the presentations highlighted the need for a collective focus on solving the intersections between mission, data, and technology, unstructured data protection needed to be better represented.

Dr. Stacey A. Dixon, Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, also mentioned San Antonio will be the National Cybersecurity headquarters.
