Recently visited a customer's site to resolve an issue of a UHF repeater not performing well enough to use the channel. Management had instructed all employees to use the single remaining repeater channel. While this was a temporary workaround it greatly inhibited that channel's functionality due to the increased employee use.

The repeater in question tested within accepted specifications using the Freedom Cte R8100 analyzer. The Telewave.io wattmeter told a different story on the antenna line, showing almost as much reflected power as forward power. Inspection of the of the antenna line on the roof identified an issue with the connector and was found to be the cause of the poor repeater performance. With the connector issue resolved the repeater was restored to its initial performance capabilities making that channel fully available for all employees once again.

Understanding the differences between UHF and VHF two-way radios can help ensure that your team has the right equipment to get the job done.

The industry you operate in, factored in with the location of your jobsite, and the frequency range you use will affect which radios are best suited for your workforce.

Our team will help you understand VHF and UHF two-way radios. We offer custom systems of the best two-way radios for any budget. You will find the right Motorola Solutions solution for you at All Points Wireless .

UHF (ULTRA-HIGH FREQUENCY) TWO-WAY RADIOS
UHF two-way radios operate from 403 to 430 MHz, 450 to 470MHz, and 450 to 527 MHz. The trade-off for ultra-high frequency for distance is in building pe*******on or densely wooded areas. Ultra High Frequencies are most commonly suitable for industries such as:

- Manufacturing, factories, and warehouses
- Hotels, hospitality, and retail stores
- Building construction
- Schools, dorms, and education facilities
- Fire and Emergency Medical Services

UHF radio communications are commonly equipped with shorter antennas. This makes it easier to store radios on belts or under jackets. Fitting the same radio with a longer antenna can boost range for building structures that have heavy concrete or denser building materials.

VHF (VERY HIGH FREQUENCY) TWO-WAY RADIOS
VHF (AM: Amplitude Modulation) This band is most commonly referred to as the “Victor or VHF” band. The frequency range is from 118 MHz to 136 MHz. These frequencies are normally used for outdoor operation and in rural areas. Offering a maximum range of...

Here at All Points Wireless we thrive on helping our customers effortlessly utilize the ideal systems to facilitate their communication requirements. Recently we traveled to a customer location to resolve an issue of diminished communications on the southern end of their area of operations. After a short while we identified the cause of the diminished communications and were able to restore full capacity to their multi repeater radio network. After restoring their radio network to full functionality we optimized the radio repeaters to enhance the performance across the 25,000 acre service area for hundreds of employees.
