Kinda grainy pics but this is a coworkers PC we built at work and then I had to do some more work on at home. Specs are i7 11700k, 32Gb DDR4, 1Tb SSD and 1Tb HDD, RTX 3080, 850 Watt PSU.

BIOS had to be updated to even allow Windows 11 to install via a USB. SSD was previously used in an HP laptop so it acted like it was still in there. Coworker is coming from a laptop and old FM2+ GTX 750 1Gb PC so this is a nice upgrade and should last until DDR5 comes back down from its price hike.

Custom build in process for a long distance customer. Specs are ryzen 9 3900x, 32gb DDR4, 1Tb SSD, B550 Motherboard, RTX 3070ti, and a 750 watt PSU all wrapped up in the Lian Li V00 with 7x 120mm ARGB Fans.

Case has a GPU support bracket that attaches to the middle bottom and middle mobo standoffs. Cant wait to see if the holes actually line up well or not.

One final piece of uniqueness to this case is the front has a platform you can reveal to put a figurine on top of. It didnt come with any fans but for $50 this was a really nice case. The hardware even came in a plastic clam shell case instead of a baggie.

Got a couple exciting PC builds coming this week featuring RTX 3080 GPUs.

The concept of "future proofing" a PC build is a slippery slope. While it can make sense its only for the not too distant future. Ive seen many computers that claim to be future proofed: running the latest in PC advancements and costing a good chunk more to allow the most time to pass without upgrades.

But let's look at a recent development: 12vhpwr connectors. While not every GPU has these many do and While theres still risks to these connectors older power supplies won't have these built in. Yes there are adapters but thats not a native "future proof" advantage.

Looking back even further sata m.2 drives might have been a feature to have but many boards nowadays do not work with them. No it might not affect the built PC but still something to think of.

DDR/2/3/4/5 and who knows whats next. I wouldn't say you should spend extra on features just bc of future proofing your build bc whose to say you do and next month the next advancement is announced.

Do research and ask for advice. Do what makes sense for your budget and know that when new tech comes out you can adapt your build. Its better to performance proof your build: use parts that allow the most performance vs spending extra just to not upgrade in the future.

Part of what makes computers so fun to work with is just how modular they are. And no build that claims to be future proof really is. Old i7 processors are now outperformed by i3 that are cheaper than the release msrp of the i7. Some parts are now legacy or just down right not supported.

Just a thought I had this morning when I saw a post of a pc from the late 90s claiming to be future proofed and never being left behind to the forces of time.

Shopping for parts since the RAM shortage has been frustrating. I've seen DDR4 RGB RAM go from ~$60 to ~$70 and now almost ~$80 on average for 16Gb. Its not even worth while for me to look at DDR5 builds unless its a custom request but most budgets only allow DDR4 systems.

1Tb NVMe SSDs are keeping strong at about $100 but as with most things it just depends on the seller. Thats one reason why when building I really consider getting a 500Gb SSD for ~$50 and a 1Tb HDD for ~$20.

Last bit I have to complain about is motherboards. Why on Earth would I want to buy a used board that may or may not come with the IO Shield, mounting brackets for AM4/5, and WiFi antennas if it has built in WiFi for ~$70 when I can get a new board for $80? Or why pay $60 for a board without WiFi when to add a decent WiFi card its an extra $20? At that point it would be faster and cheaper to just get the $80 board. I'm seeing so many boards listed for their new price when they are 5 or 8 years old. $100 for a B350 with no WiFi, no 5v ARGB header, and only 3 RAM slots working is crazy.

That's why with my builds I try my best to keep costs low but also costs that make sense. I buy cases that have ARGB fans already integrated vs buying the cheapest case and the cheapest pack of fans. This is what I used to do but it makes no sense unless there isn't a good case or you want to add the max number of fans. I use motherboards that have specific features like WiFi, Gen 4x4 for NVMe, even though a modern build would be using DDR5. Sacrifices and compromises for the best experience at an affordable price.

Its easy to get lost in the idea of future proofing as well but luckily with PCs somethings are easy to swap out if a feature is missing or there is an adapter. Long post full of dribble but its a small peak inside the mind. Lets you know I do really consider and make informed choices when doing builds.

As usual its been a while since I posted. Apologies about that. I am still in the PC building business and will have a few almost identical builds for sale here soon so keep an eye out on Marketplace for Shane Staley's newest listing.

I will also have a few pics to post here soon for a rebuild of a relative's PC I'm doing, custom paint job since I can't find cases in the color they like.

It has been many a month since I last posted on this page. My day job has taken up most of my time. With that said I have still been doing some PC jobs: doing a retrofit of an AM3+ Socket with a water cooler because inside the socket is an FX 9590. This has been a pain! I dont have the proper mounting hardware so I've done the best I can do with what I have.

Ive also got a PC I've built and half way setup to sell. Its nothing to write home about but it will certainly be able to play a lot of popular games and is on the AM5 platform. Just gotta finish up the Windows 11 setup.

Finally I teased something a while back and want to say while the project had to be put on hold a major part of it was worked on this weekend. Its not done but soon ill be able to share more details about it.

Hopefully with the holidays coming Ill be able to dedicate more time to this so look forward to that.

Its been a hot minute since I posted on here, sorry for that. I do still have 2 computers for sale and will try to have more at a later date, maybe the focus being "budget bangers" that are capable machines with amazing upgrade paths but are very budget friendly.

The two I have available are a bit more powerful than a budget pc.

I have a beautiful white build with a Ryzen 9 5900x CPU, 32Gb DDR4, 500Gb SDD, 1Tb HDD, RTX 3080 GPU, 850 Watt PSU, all wrapped up in a White ATX case with 6x ARGB Fans. Price is $800

The other PC is a black build with a Ryzen 7 5700 CPU, 16Gb DDR4, 240Gb SSD, 1Tb HDD, RTX 3060 ti GPU, 600 Watt PSU, all wrapped up in a Black ATX case with 4x ARGB Fans. Price is $650

Both PCs have WiFi and Bluetooth, running Windows 10 activated, and can be upgraded to Windows 11 upon request for no extra charge.
